Submissions for symposia and plenary speakers are closed! Reviews are now underway, and selections will be shared when available.

If you would like to submit an abstract for a brief communication, data blitz, or poster presentation, click here for that separate submission portal.

Symposium and plenary speaker proposals are reviewed each year by the Scientific Programming Committee (SPC) to set the preliminary conference program. The deadline for submissions was extended to December 13, 2024. For details on how to submit, consult the PDF guide linked below.

Symposia usually last 1 hour and comprise 3 or 4 speakers who present work organized around a common topic or theme. As in recent years, we would especially like to encourage interdisciplinary symposia as well as submissions from IASR members around the world. The proposer of the symposium may be one of the speakers or just moderate for their 3-4 other proposed speakers. All involved should have agreed to participate and provided the symposium organizer with a title, authors, abstract, keywords, and funding information for their proposed talk. Presenters, if selected, must register for the conference. Consult the registration information page to learn about fees and deadlines.

Plenary talks usually last 45 minutes with 15 minutes for discussion at the end. The proposer may nominate themself or another individual with a brief statement about the proposed speaker’s work and why they would be a strong plenary speaker for IASR. Proposed speakers do not need to have already committed to attending or provide a finalized abstract up front, but the nominator should confer with anyone whom they choose to nominate to ensure interest.

Abstract Formatting Guidelines for Symposium Talks

IASR abstracts must include a title in sentence case (i.e., first word capitalized, mostly lowercase otherwise) and list all authors (i.e., name, degree, affiliation).

The body of the abstract (400 words maximum) must be structured into Background, Methods, Results, and Conclusions, including these headers as separate lines in your text. If your research cannot be easily conformed to these standardized sections (e.g., due to differences across disciplines), you may email iasradmin@gmail.com to approve an alternate abstract structure.

Presenters may choose to optionally include keywords (20 words maximum) and funding acknowledgments (150 words maximum).

Abstracts that do not meet the formatting requirements will not be reviewed.
